Vertical exposed fan coil unit: features, dimensions and installation

Covers the features, performance standard, and step-by-step installation and use of the vertical exposed fan coil unit, including wiring, commissioning and routine care for reliable operation.

The vertical exposed fan coil unit is a terminal for central air conditioning. It serves cooling, dehumidifying and heating in hotels, restaurants, factories, hospitals, exhibition halls, shops and offices, and in multi-room or large open industrial and civil buildings.

Features

1. High efficiency, enough capacity

The coil uses seamless copper tube with aluminium sine-wave fins, expanded mechanically or hydraulically. The fin and tube fit tightly, so the unit works at its best.

2. High airflow, low noise

A wide scroll and multi-blade centrifugal wheel, matched to the motor, keep noise low and meet the unit's needs.

3. Safe and long-lived

The motor is a class B induction motor with a built-in over-temperature protector, so it rarely burns out. Every coil passes a high-pressure leak test, so the unit does not leak water.

Installation and use

1. Set the vertical exposed unit on a level surface and keep it vertical; do not tilt. For a horizontal unit, keep all four hangers level to stop condensate spilling from one end.

2. Fit valves on the water pipes for adjustment and service, and keep the pipes clean and insulated. The condensate plastic pipe must not be crushed or kinked, so condensate flows freely.

3. The unit has a three-speed switch. Start at high speed, then pick another speed. When several units share a circuit, control each one separately.

4. Power: single-phase 220 V ±10%, 50 Hz AC. Earth the motor frame. If the unit will not start, check the supply, and whether the wheel touches the scroll. Do not dent the casing, fins or fan during fitting.

5. For summer cooling water, the supply temperature must not be below 7°C; for winter heating water, not above 80°C. Treat the water for hardness per local quality.

6. Maximum working pressure: 1.6 MPa.

7. Clean the filter on a schedule.

8. Clean the heat exchanger regularly to keep heat transfer good.

9. After power on, run the fan first and check the rotation direction.

10. If the unit is hidden, fit an access door for upkeep.

11. Cut the power before any service.

The vertical exposed fan coil unit is built from a centrifugal fan and a coil heat exchanger; it is the terminal of a central air-conditioning system. With its specific functions, it gives occupants a fresh, quiet, spring-like environment all year.
